VM Paris Trip: Jan 2012

Monday 23rd January 2012: London St Pancras. Depart 08.31am to Paris Gare du Nord. Arrive at 11.47am. Mission: Visual Research Photographs of interesting shop windows and visual influences from Paris. Also to take note of the main seasonal trends and inspirations from the new concept stores / art / people / street observations. Visit the Prêt a Porter Fashion Show. Visit Cofrad - top fashion mannequin showroom.

One of the most spectacular events that we attended was Goudemalion: Jean-Paul Goude: A Retrospective, at Les Arts Décoratifs. Here are a few photos, plus a very short film I made using my Nokia smart phone. A few of us considered this one of the best exhibitions we'd ever seen.

The exhibition brings together drawings, music, photographs, objects and film, capturing the essence of the Parisian artist's own distinctive vision and of course his work with longtime muse, Grace Jones.

Another exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs was well worth seeing for some great examples of contemporary graphic design.

... and photography.

After a short ride on The Metro we arrive at 12 Rue Vauvilliers and Cofrad Mannequins, where we are welcomed with a tour of the showroom.

Also, plenty of free time to explore Paris . . .

. . .  and enjoy a meal at the legendary Bouillon Chartier. which is over 100 years old and has so far served 50 million meals! Below: Eco-friendly, paper fashion.
